With the world pretty much glued to the computer using the internet, did you ever wonder how we as Americans are using it? Here are a few highlights that have been gathered by a company called InfoGraphic that shows how we are using the internet on a regular basis.

55 percent of Americans use the internet everyday mainly for work purposes. Out of that 55 percent, 45 percent send out or receive emails. Now 40 percent use search engines like Google to look up information, but only 17 percent use social networking and 6 percent use the internet for online games.

In general, Americans send at least 60 hours a month surfing the internet. Researchers say that if you were to put those hours back to back, we would approximately spend one month straight on the internet excluding eating and sleeping!

About 70 percent of Americans use the internet to partake of social networks for communicating with friends and family. Studies have found that 92 percent of Brazilian’s internet community is participating in social networking. Therefore, 22 percent of internet users around the world are using the internet to network with others.

Looking at a different area side from social media, 38 percent of the world uses its time not only checking emails, but using commerce and searching for content.   45 percent spend time looking at the content. Due to this, a person will spend a single month visiting over 3,000 web pages and long on to different sites on an average of about 60 times!  This also includes the Internet usage on mobile devices.  Some of the popular Internet compatible phones are the blackberry and iPhone.  What is a blackberry phone or iPhone? These popular phones are the leaders in Internet and e-mail usage.

It’s no secret that the internet is our new way of life. At this point who knows if we will be able to get along without it. There is so much that can be done and executed just by a click of a button. Many internet users are interested to know what will come to out beat the internet in the future!
